Welcome to Cambodia. Arrive at Phnom Penh airport, you will be met by our local representative and transferred to the hotel. Later proceed for local sightseeing in Phnom Penh. Afternoon, start your tour to visit Killing Fields “Choeung Ek” 15km southwest of Phnom Penh. This one is the site of brutal executions of more than 17,000 individuals, most of whom first suffered through interrogations, torture and deprivation in Toul Sleng Prison during Pol Pot regime (From 1975–1979). Continue, visit Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21 prison). This prison was a high school and used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces and became the largest center for detention and torture during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. Return back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Phnom Penh.
This morning our tour guide welcome you at the hotel’s lobby, visit Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendor. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. Then, continue to the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century); See the South Gate (with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk), Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch at local restaurant at own account. Afternoon, visit one of the area’s most beautiful temples, Ta Prohm (mid-12th – early 13th century). Intentionally left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow through the towers and corridors offering a ‘jungle atmosphere’ and some of the best ‘tree-in-temple’ photo opportunities at Angkor. Return back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Siem Reap.
After breakfast, we venture into the heart of Cambodian history and culture. At 8:00 am, our guide and driver will meet you at the hotel for a journey to Kulen Mountain, a sacred site known as the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. Explore ancient carvings, including a revered reclining Buddha statue and marvel at a stunning waterfall. Following lunch at a local eatery(on own cost), we visit Banteay Srei Temple, famed for its intricate pink sandstone sculptures, before stopping at Pradark Village to witness traditional palm sugar making and local handicrafts. Return to Siem Reap for a night of rest, enriched by the day’s cultural discoveries and natural beauty. Overnight stay at the hotel in Siem Reap.
This morning after breakfast, proceed to visit to Wat Thmei (Killing Field) contains a unique glass-walled stupa containing the bones of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Some of the bones were recovered from a nearby well while others are the remains of soldiers who died on a nearby battlefield. Then will visit Puok, the real and original place of the Artisans d’Angkor silk, where you will see the full process of silk producing, from the silk worms munch on the Mulberry leaves to spin their cocoons which used to make silk warp. You of course will see the weaving work and purchase the high quality silk products as a beautiful Cambodia souvenir. Then visit West Baray Big Pond, a “baray” is a water reservoir built by the ancient Khmer people. Later in the afternoon visit Floating Villages, located 10 kilometers south of Siem Reap! Take a ride in a traditional wooden boat on the Tonle Sap, the “Great Lake” of Cambodia and the largest in Asia. Here you’ll see plenty of examples of the Khmer way of life on the Tonle Sap. Then visit Wat Bo founded in the 18th century, a highly respected pagoda contains very unique wall paintings of the Reamker (Ramayana) that are said to be late 19th century and Local Market. Return back to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Siem Reap.
